Full Job Title: Compliance Accountant - Lafayette

Overview

Responsible for overseeing the process of preparation and filing of all income tax returns, cost reports, sales and use tax returns and other similar regulatory reporting for the Company.

Additional Details

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensure deadlines are met for all regulatory filings.

Facilitate the income tax preparation and filing process, working closely with our external tax advisors.

Prepare various schedules and workpapers for income tax filings as requested by our external tax advisors.

Oversee all tax credit processes, including evaluating credits available to the Company, developing communication with the field regarding the credits, managing and processing of applications and monitoring the filings.

Monitor federal and state legislation related to changes in tax regulations and communicate law changes to management as appropriate.

Prepare the quarterly provision for income tax for the Company.

Prepare the monthly income tax calculation for the Company.

Oversee and manage the sales tax process; oversee audits and other regulatory requests, monitor payments and refunds, etc.

Prepare work papers that provide a trail of the accumulation of information into the prescribed Medicare and Medicaid formats for cost reporting.

Organize Medicare & Medicaid cost report data & maintain all necessary data for their completion.

Ensure timely preparation of all required reports such as Medicare Cost Report, Medicaid Cost report, and any other reports necessary.

Perform all procedures in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.

Prepare schedules and work papers as requested by external auditors.

Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Skill & Abilities:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Previous experience in income tax preparation and deferred tax
  • Must be highly skilled in use of Excel.
  • Attention to detail
  • Must possess excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
